mark kirk says people drive faster through black neighborhoods
States black neighborhoods are areas he feels people try to avoid during a sit down talk at a Peoria Journal Star interview.
His statement: “I want to make sure we have elected people constantly looking at helping the African-American community,” Kirk said. “With this state and all of its resources, we could sponsor a whole new class of potential innovators like George Washington Carver and eventually have a class of African-American billionaires. That would really adjust income differentials and make the diversity and outcome of the state much better so that the black community is not the one we drive faster through." WOW
He was trying to relate it to the fact that he wanted to lower crime yet it was a poor choice of words. The interviewer did also add the fact that people drive faster because they do not like to see poverty.

Tennessee suspends executions
Tennessee suspends executions
The Tennessee Supreme Court has suspended executions of convicted murderers calling them cruel and unusual punishment. This halted people from getting executed and that was scheduled for early 2016.
"We're grateful that the Tennessee Supreme Court saw fit to lift these execution dates at least temporarily as the courts are proceeding with all this litigation," Stacy Rector, executive director of Tennesseans for Alternatives to the Death Penalty, told The Huffington Post by phone Monday.
The court may set new execution dates as the anti-death penalty proceeds any further.
Inmates on death row have sued the state because they are calling being ejected with drugs cruel and unusual.
Electric Chair trails next month and drug injection trials will be held in July.
May 2014 electric chair was a back up to the injections.
Lethal injection supplies are beginning to be harder to find due to all the multiple bans.
Since 2000, Tennessee has executed six inmates and exonerated three. (One of those exonerated inmates accepted a deal to plead guilty to a lesser crime in exchange for freedom.)

Senate Republicans has their first vote on one of President Barack Obama's judicial nominees on Monday night
In a 95-0 vote, the Senate made Alfred Bennett to the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas. Seat was empty for 769 days and a seat so powerful would now be called a "judicial emergency."
Republicans have not given Obama's judicial nominees very seriously ever since they took Senate. They did not care if it hurt getting theirs either. (cool kinda bc they are standing their ground? lol)
Another Utah judicial nominee is ready for a vote.
Bennett was actually allowed in less time of 207 days. Even less time when Democrats controlled the Senate.
"President George W. Bush had to work with a Democratic Senate in his final two years in office. By this point in Bush's seventh year in the White House, the Senate had confirmed 15 of his judicial nominees that year."

Hillary Clinton Campaign Insists Iowa Will Be 'Competitive'
"These caucuses have always been competitive, and we're expecting the same thing here" states Hillary Clinton
So far there are no other contenders to run against Clinton besides Lincoln Chafee who was Rhode Islands former governor.
Potential Democrats--- former Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley, independent Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders and former Virginia Sen. Jim Webb have yet to declare their intention

Very few Iowan will vote for the listed above.
Clinton does not want a repeat of what happened eight years ago when Iowans were under the impression she did not enjoy the caucuses. Clinton lost the state to then-frontrunner John Edwards and newcomer Barack Obama.
Matt Paul has "strong ties" with the state's Democratic operation and is leading the Iowan opperation.
On Tuesday and Wednesday Hillary will be making her rounds in Iowa. Not only in the big cities but the smaller ones as well.
"You're going to see Hillary interact in much smaller settings than people might expect. She's going to be in coffeeshops,"
Clinton's goal is to show her concern of everyday voters as well.

Florida officials were barred from saying 'climate change' once rick scott took power
"Officials responsible for making sure Florida is prepared to respond to the earth's changing climate are barred from using the terms "global warming" and "climate change" in official communications, emails and reports, according to new findings from the Florida Center for Investigative Reporting."
Climate change is a big problem for florida and is predicted to rise 2 ft by 2060. Rick Scott is angering scientists by downplaying the situation.
Last year, a reporter asked Scott whether man-made climate change "is significantly affecting the weather, the climate."scott said"Well, I'm not a scientist." (why does he wanna avoid that..?)
He says openly he doesn't believe in climate change. People are saying he needs to start worrying by protecting the state. Sea levels rising will begin to cause problems in the future.
The agency's press secretary told the Florida Center for Investigative Reporting that "DEP does not have a policy on this." The governor's office similarly said, "There's no policy on this."

This gap between women’s inherent value and how many of them are treated every day is one of the great injustices of our time. On this International Women’s Day, we recommit ourselves to closing that gap.
That means supporting girls’ education. Right now, 62 million girls worldwide who should be in school aren’t. Millions more are at risk of losing their access to education. This week, Michelle and I announced an initiative called “Let Girls Learn,” to help dismantle the barriers -- economic, political and cultural -- that stand in the way of girls who want to learn.
I’m convinced that a world in which women and girls are treated as equal to men and boys is safer, more stable, and more prosperous. Beyond those tangible benefits, this is simply a matter of right and wrong. Women and girls are human beings, full and equal in rights and dignity. They deserve to be treated that way, everywhere, every day. My Administration will continue working to make that vision a reality."
Obama marked International Women's Day on Sunday by calling for equality for all women, saying that it was "simply a matter of right and wrong."
He said the treatment of women has been a great injustice.
the description below basically states the women give great additions to the world and that they are not given enough credit for all that they do. He also says that their value and the way that they are actually treated is an injustice. 62 million girls who should be in school are not, millions are are risking their education. He said if women were treated equal to men then the world would be a safer, more stable, and more prosperous.
Read Obama's full statement on International Women's Day below:
"As half the planet, women make immeasurable contributions to our world. They are entrepreneurs, farmers, educators, scientists, artists, soldiers, mothers, heads of state -- the list is endless. Without them, economies would collapse, political systems would deteriorate, and families and communities would fall apart. Yet in too many places, women are treated as second-class citizens. Their abilities are undervalued. And their human rights -- the right to learn, to express themselves, to live free from violence, to choose whether and whom to marry -- are routinely violated. This gap between women’s inherent value and how many of them are treated every day is one of the great injustices of our time. On this International Women’s Day, we recommit ourselves to closing that gap.
